:::Water, throughout the scripture, is a figure for the Word of God. You can't live without water. Water gives life. Scriptural water baptism is baptism by the word, being immersed in the word. Cleansing by water is cleansing by the word. Even Catholic doctrine doers not dispute this. The problem is, Catholic man made doctrine contains many conflicting doctrines, ''rendering the word of God to no effect.'' I'm of the opinion that even many church higher-ups will admit this. It stems from two millennium of trying to be all things to all people, different languages, peoples, cultural traditions in far flung geographic locations (Islam and the Koran suffers from the same problem).
:::No church is God. It's made up of flawed human beings. It's easy to be critical of any church and its teaching (whether Catholic or Protestant), buts what's really needed is compassion.
