:Now, a man or beast without the spirit of God may have the spirit of Satan (in fact he probably does) but the passage clearly refers to a man - living flesh without the spirit of God - a beast. Satan is not a man. Satan is a spirit.
:So the passage clearly refers a man, any man, without the spirit of God. He he may possess the spirit of Satan, but he himself will still be responsible for this event.
Now this lead to a debate, ''Is the beastly flesh possess by Satan, or does Satan possess the flesh of a victim.'' In this case, it refers to a man who rejects God, lifts himself up in pride against God, and makes himself God, or the focus and reason for his existence. Again, like Christ, it is a choice. Each of us must choose to serve God or serve something else, usually self. Serving God is a choice. Rejecting God is a choice. Those who reject God to worship and serve themselves (the creature or beast) have the mark of the beast. It is not a future event. It's regular and ongoing, and all 7.4 billion people on planet earth living right now must all make a choice individually.
