Following election night, counting stopped in five states (or parts of states): Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. All but one of these states had a Democrat governor at the time, and all of them were close or showing a Trump lead. Even though Biden claimed early November 4th that he was in the lead in the race to 270 electoral votes, the media insisted patience over the election week, with NPR writing that "The conclusion [to the election] will not be a swift one."
