The '''Wii U''' is a video game console released by [[Nintendo]] in [[2012]]. It is the successor to the [[Wii]]. Its main controller is the Wii U GamePad, which was designed after a [[tablet]] albeit with buttons. The main gimmick was that players can switch gameplay from the [[TV]] to the GamePad screen or use both screens simultaneously.
