:It's not my intention to debate who or what is or isn't a RINO. But generally speaking, a RINO comes from a swing district who needs Democrat votes to get elected. The term RINO generally refers to the character of the district more than the ideology of member who needs more than republican voters to get elected.

:A member's vote on a particular bill many times cannot be determinative of their ideological stance. For instance, in an election year, a member may vote for a law that is unpopular among their core base '''''in the full knowledge the law will never withstand Supreme Court scrutiny''''', such as a red flag bill. They do so to avoid criticism and being hammered by opponents on an emotional issue in an election year. It is not an indication that they are a closet liberal of sorts, etc.

:In short, the term "RINO" should be applied to voters and districts more often than it is, rather than being uniformly misapplied to a candidates or office holders. [[User:RobSmith|RobS]][[User talk:RobSmith|Z+]] 18:40, June 23, 2022 (EDT)
