I have to say that I suspect that a lot of this article is an oversimplification. We cannot make an oversimplifying statement that voters in a state tend one direction when 52% of a state vote Republican (the information here would hardly apply to Ohio, for instance.) The same goes for some states that would be "blue". For instance, Illinois votes Democrat in elections because of Chicago, but there are many conservative voters in the Southern part. :How about the fact that VNS and others had the GOP as Blue and The Dems as Red until very recently; the switch was made obviously because of the jokes that were made how appropriate "Red state" was for liberalism and Democrats. I personally believe this is one sophisisticated oxymoronic line of garbage by the same "mainstream" "opinion makers" that we should not bite into.
