'''Operation Bucharest''' is a full-length (32 pp.) comic written by [[Jack Chick]]. It was originally printed in 1974 and remains in-stock. Unlike their tracts, it is not available for free viewing on the Chick Publications website; it can only be purchased either in print or electronic form.
The comic is the first of a 22-comic series titled "The Crusaders", featuring Christians involved in daring operations against enemies of the faith (and, in some cases, actual demonic activity).
The comic, set in Romania during the 1960's when it was a Communist country controlled by the Soviet Union, is a fictional account of a Bible-smuggling operation. The "Crusaders" in the story are former Green Beret Timothy Emerson Clark and former narcotics gang leader James Carter, both of whom are now Christian believers and who agree to smuggle a microfilm into Romania so that Bibles can be produced.
A KGB agent secretly working at a passport office asks Clark if he is related to the United States Ambassador to France (as they share the same name; it should be noted that the name used is totally fictional as no such person ever actually served in that position); upon learning that he is the Ambassador's nephew she informs the KGB of his planned trip. The KGB decides they will try to entrap Clark into a sexual scandal, then publicize the event to make it appear that Ambassador Clark is the guilty party and demand his removal. However, their efforts fail as "Sofia" (the young woman sent to entrap Clark) is led to Christian faith (in the final frames she is arrested and sent to jail for her beliefs).
