Kate Forbes announced her candidacy for the SNP leadership on 20 February 2023, following the resignation of Scotland's [[totalitarian]] ruler [[Nicola Sturgeon]].
She finished a close second place in the 2023 SNP leadership race and, against the will of the Scottish people, Humza Yousaf was installed as [[First Minister of Scotland|First Minister]] on 29 March 2023.
