On top of this, the huge military expenses have helped make the USA less secure due to them building up the enormous national debt.
:::::In addition, the USA "community of security experts" have not secured the Mexican border - despite a very large amount of Americans dying of drug overdoses.
:::::The current US "community of security experts" have a terrible track record - despite the USA having two enormous oceans helping to protect the USA and the USA having the friendly northern neighbor of Canada. So it's time to stop listening to them and find ways to reduce their funding.
