History on 2024 Presidential Campaign
In November 2021, former Trump campaign advisor and lobbyist Roger Stone prophetically accused DeSantis of political posturing to set up a Judas-like campaign for the 2024 presidential election.  Stone sought a pledge by DeSantis not to run against Trump. DeSantis supposedly privately mocked Stone's status as a convicted felon, despite evidence that Stone's prosecution was the result of a Deep State smear campaign and the fact that he had been pardoned by Trump. Those remarks were supposedly made behind closed doors, as DeSantis likely knew that making them public would potentially end his political career. Stone in turn responded by demanding that DeSantis apologize for those remarks. As of January 2023, DeSantis had not issued such an apology. Stone also insulted DeSantis, calling him a "Yale Harvard fat boy" who "can't get out of his own way" and accused DeSantis having an affair with former Newsmax reporter Emerald Robinson while he had been out of the public eye, despite the fact that DeSantis had been helping his wife Casey during her struggle with breast cancer during that time.
