One thing that sets the Russian language, culture, and society apart from many others is the social acceptability of swearing, from 6-year-old school kids to 85 year old grandmothers. The offensive taboo that exists in many cultures does not (more properly, has not) existed in Russian society. In fact, swearing is an artform (I guess cussing somebody out in Russia's long-established [[multicultural] society is considered more polite than beating somebody or killing them.)
