I don't have a bird's eye view enough to know what the primary motives and causes of this war (Cause trouble for Russia in its backyard; a vain attempt to achieve liberal hegenmony; cause a rift between Germany and Russia for economic reasons, bloody Russia's nose enough so it doesn't expand beyond Ukraine, etc. etc.).  I do know the [[cleft country|cleft countries]] are often powerkegs.

It's a shame that the USA has managed its finances so poorly in terms of its national debt and Social Security/Medicare. And that it did not manage its industrial capacity as well as it could have. That is going to affect its abilities in terms of its military capacity and international relations.
