:[[John Mearsheimer]] in his book ''The Tragedy of Great Power Politics'' (Norton, 2001) refers to the establishment-military-industrial-financial complex as "the blob" and says that the blob wins against individuals, particular politicians, etc.  I had a feeling that Mike Johnson would be coopted by the siren song of the blob and that Trump would send up smoke signals to Johnson that voting for the aid of Ukraine is acceptable to him (Trump said the survival of Ukraine is important[https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/apr/19/ukraine-war-briefing-donald-trump-says-survival-of-ukraine-important-to-the-us]).

:It's too bad that Biden isn't better on the foreign relations front as this war might have been prevented or ended sooner. Ukraine doesn't have the manpower to win a war of attrition and the West did poor planning in terms of artillery shells.
