'''New England''' is the term used to refer to a region of the United States. Traditionally, New England is a solid [[Republican]] voting base. Currently, New England is a stronghold for liberals and atheists that tends to vote [[Democratic ]] at the local, state, and national levels.
At present, there is only one Republican member of the House of Representatives from New England: Christopher Shays of Connecticut. Both US Senators from Maine are Republicans: Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins <ref>http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm?State=ME</ref>.
