Trump's assassination attempt was condemned by current and former political figures, left and right, the world over. The attack marks the first time a sitting or former US president was injured in an unsuccessful assassination attempt since [[Ronald Regan]] was shot in March 1981, over 43 years prior. After Reagan, Trump is the seventh US president to be subject to a successful or unsuccessful assassination attempt, the others being the failed attempt on [[Theodore Roosevelt]], and the succeeded attempts on [[Abraham Lincoln]], [[James A. Garfield]], [[William McKinley]] and [[John F. Kennedy]].
