::::Although Trump has merely a fraction of the authoritarian tendencies of Putin/Biden (And has more checks and balances concerning his power given the U.S. Constitution and culture), he does have them as can be seen here: [https://sites.google.com/view/autocratic-government/home Authoritarian governments and human nature]. Plus, given his reputation for impulsivity/unpredictability Trump is playing poker with Putin. In addition, Putin was tougher on Russia than Obama (Armed Ukraine with anti-tank missiles, tougher sanctions, ramped up oil production, etc.). At the end of the day, Trump displayed the right proportion of carrot/stick and diplomacy with Putin/Russia. It's too bad the Russia hoax, impeachment, the pandemic and other distractions/concerns made it harder for Trump to develop better relations with Russia.
