The [[Celtic Church]] was the name for the Christian church in the [[British]] Isles before the mission from [[Rome]] of [[St. Augustine of Canterbury]] in A.D. 596-597.

The Celtic Church was founded in A.D. 100s among the poor based on missionaries from [[Gaul]] and [[Rome]], and by A.D. 314 it was strong enough to send delegates to the [[Synod of Aries]].
