'''Daniel Ellsberg''' (born 1931) is a former strategic analyst for the [[United States]] [[Department of Defense]] and the [[State Department]], as well as member of the [[United States Marine Corps]]. He is responsible for releasing the ''[[Pentagon Papers]]'', secret government documents about the United States involvement in [[Southeast Asia]], to the [[New York Times]] in 1971. He faced criminal charges which were eventually dropped, due to members of President [[Richard Nixon]]'s staff breaking into his [[psychiatrist]]'s office.
