{{Cquote|The truth is we've lost this [[war]]. The truth is we made a major blunder thinking that we could bring the [[Russian]]s to their knees and knock them out of the ranks of the [[great power]]s. And the Russians are doing very well on the battlefield relative to the [[Ukrainian]]s. The Ukrainians are in deep trouble. And I want to emphasize here, that whatever you think of [[Trump]]'s policies towards Ukraine, he is slowly but steadily backing off from supporting Ukraine. He's turning the responsibility for helping Ukraine wage war against Russia to the [[European]]s. He's passing the buck here ever so subtly. Trump understands that this is a losing war, and he doesn't want to be blamed for it. And he sees no point in continuing to throw good [[money]] down a rat hole. So, he's backing off. The Europeans can buy [[weapon]]s from us and give them to the Ukrainians. So if you think the Ukrainians are in trouble on the battlefield, which most [[people]] now think is the case, and then you factor into that that the [[fact]] that the [[United States]] is beginning to pull away from supporting Ukraine, tell me how the situation just doesn't get worse
for Ukraine. And the answer is it does get worse for Ukraine....|||[[John mearsheimer]], August 28, 2025. [https://youtu.be/izu9cqyz2U8?t=628]}}
