===Gambling industry===
In 2022, Ras Al Khaimah announced a $3.9 billion project, [[Wynn Al Marjan Island]], which is scheduled to open in 2027. The integrated resort is being established by [[Wynn Resorts]], whose CEO Craig Billings confirmed that it will include a 224,000 sq. ft. “casino component”. For its 40% stake, Wynn Resorts contributed $900 million, while the remaining amount was financed by the Ras Al Khaimah government. The UAE has no laws to legalize gaming or gambling equipment. However, the country established the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), in September 2023. The GCGRA granted a “Commercial Gaming Facility Operator” license to Wynn Resorts, in October 2024. Given the country’s Sharia laws, gambling is completely prohibited for local citizens. But, the project was quietly progressing to target foreign travelers and reshape the region’s tourism.<ref>{{cite web |url=http://www.thenational.ae/thenationalconversation/comment/emiratisation-wont-work-if-people-dont-want-to-learn |date=6 May 2024 |title=Wynn Resorts Releases New, Updated Images of Wynn Al Marjan Island |work=PR Newswire |language=en |access-date=23 October 2024 |archive-date=10 October 2024 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20241010011112/https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/wynn-resorts-releases-new-updated-images-of-wynn-al-marjan-island-302136173.html |url-status=dead }}</ref><ref>{{cite web |url=https://www.reuters.com/business/wynn-resorts-says-it-gets-uaes-first-gambling-license-2024-10-05/ |date=5 October 2024 |title=Wynn Resorts says it gets UAE's first gambling license |work=Reuters |language=en |access-date=23 October 2024 |archive-date=7 October 2024 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20241007035251/https://www.reuters.com/business/wynn-resorts-says-it-gets-uaes-first-gambling-license-2024-10-05/ |url-status=live }}</ref><ref>{{cite web |url=https://skift.com/2024/10/06/the-united-arab-emirates-is-building-its-own-las-vegas/ |date=6 October 2024 |title=The United Arab Emirates Is Building Its Own Las Vegas |author=Josh Corder |work=Skift |language=en |access-date=23 October 2024 |archive-date=9 October 2024 |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20241009055214/https://skift.com/2024/10/06/the-united-arab-emirates-is-building-its-own-las-vegas/ |url-status=live }}</ref>
