On April 24, 2006, David Thomas was picked by the [[New England Patriots]] in the third round of the [[2006 NFL Draft]]. In his rookie (2006) season with the Patriots he played in 15 games and started 3. His first NFL official reception came vs the [[New York Jets]] in the second week of the regular season.... Thomas ended the 2006 regular season with 11 receptions for 159 yards and 1 touchdown. In the 2006 postseason Divisional playoff game vs the [[San Deigo Chargers]] Thomas recovered a fumbled punt by Charger returner [[Eric Parker]].
