On April 24, 2006, David Thomas was picked by the [[New England Patriots]] in the third round of the [[2006 NFL Draft]]. In his rookie (2006) season with the Patriots he played in 15 games and started 3. His first NFL official reception came vs the [[New York Jets]] in the second week of the regular season.... His best performance as a rookie came in week fifteen when the Patriots clinched a forth straight [[AFC East]] division title. Thomas ended the 2006 regular season with 11 receptions for 159 yards and 1 touchdown.
