Interestingly, [[Robert Bruce]] fought with the English at the Battle of Falkirk against Wallace, but later rebelled against England as Wallace had and won Scottish independence from England.  A later Scottish alliance with [[France]] was part of the cause of the [[Hundred Years War]].
