Daily Kos makes a pretense of allowing a wide range of views to be discussed under the claim of a "big tent" policy but in reality views which deviate from liberal orthodoxy are quickly shouted down, given thought-stopping labels like "concern troll", met with abusive "troll rating" and banning from the site, or met with a flood of apparently coordinated diaries posted by Daily Kos' front page diarists heavily pushing the liberal orthodoxy's view of the issue. This is especially the case with those issues like [[immigration]] and [[abortion]] where there are significant numbers of Democrats who do not agree with the received liberal orthodoxy on those issues. Similarly, Daily Kos has been in the forefront of an apparently coordinated campaign to defame and slander Republican candidate for President [[Ron Paul]], and populist TV commentator [[Lou Dobbs]]. Oddly, Daily Kos and Markos' hand-picked front page diarists also engage in the same coordinated defamation of some figures from the Democratic party's own left wing, such as [[Mike Gravel]] and [[Dennis Kucinich]], and non-Democrat left wingers like [[Ralph Nader]], indicating that Daily Kos may be an operation by the Democrat Party establishment masquerading as grassroots but in actuality designed to promote orthodox Democrat candidates like [[Hillary Clinton]] who are anything but grassroots. In particular, Daily Kos is a haven for anti-[[Christian]] hatred and bias against religion. Markos also claims to be a "[[Libertarian]] Democrat" and to be pro-[[gun rights]], but hypocritically allows anti-gun hate groups like the Brady Campaign to advertise on Daily Kos, and allows his hand-picked front page diarists to rail against "gun nuts" and the [[NRA]]. His claim to be a "Libertarian Democrat" was widely ridiculed and criticized by real Libertarians, who noted that Markos knows little to nothing about Libertarian philosophy and diametrically opposes it on many counts.
