Derek Hagan, born Samantha Whallops,(1934-present) is best known as the first American to have undergone a complete gender reassignment procedure. Samantha had lived a normal life, complete with husband, two children and a career as an accountant. Upon reaching the age of 30, Samantha determined she wanted to be a male, and began her procedure.
