'''Operation Bagration''' was the codename for the [[Soviet]] offensive which defeated [[German]] [[Nazi]] forces in [[Belarus]]sia and Eastern [[Poland]] in World War II. The operation began on June 22, 1944,(the third anniversary of [[Operation Barbarossa]]) and resulted in the near destruction of the German Army Group Centre. German losses were estimated at 350,000 soldiers killed, wounded and MIA. Soviet forces advanced over 350 miles westwards.
