→‎Archmere Tuition: Further discussion, plus more on grammar.
Line 57: Line 57:
:Noting the tuition as it currently exists shows the standard of that school for today and leaves it to the reader to determine what may have held true in the past.  Generally speaking, most schools keep comparable standards over time.  If there was a scholarship, his website would proudly provide that information would they not?  Or have you noticed a tendency towards them being modest for Joe's accomplishments?  Leaving the summer job part without also including current tuition levels could make it sound as if he paid for it himself, which would appear to be unlikely, although we do not state one way or the other.  Giving more complete information, while not stating what occurred, can allow the reader to draw his own conclusions on how viable this may have been. ::There are two kinds of scholarship, merit-based and need-based.  Merit-based scholarships would be the kind that would be proudly advertised.  Need-based scholarships are usually kept more confidential, so as not to embarrass the student or their family, and so that fellow students do not know who is receiving need-based aid and who is not.  In addition, teen-aged high school students are not always aware of the details of their parents' financial arrangements with the school.  I would be very surprised if anyone in public office would bother to list on their web site the details of need-based aid they received 40 years previously for high school.  College-prep high schools often offer substantial need-based aid in an effort to have a more socio-economically diverse student body.  We have no idea what Biden was charged for tuition 40 years ago.

::If you feel strongly that the tuition should be mentioned in the body of the article, do you feel we should also list the tuition of the University of Delaware, Syracuse University College of Law, and perhaps even Widener and Del Tech?  --[[User:Hsmom|Hsmom]] 22:16, 10 September 2008 (EDT)

:Furthermore, his "admitting" his plagarism ignores the fact he did so only after he was caught and had no other choice.  One can not accidentally copy enmasse a work from another person and not have it be understood to be plagarism. :: As I said above, I have no opinion as to the ''content'' of the plagiarism sentences.  But one of them isn't even a proper sentence, and the other is poorly written.  If you don't like my version, that's OK with me; it was just an attempt to correct the grammar, not to change the content.  But could you pretty please fix it to be grammatically correct?  Thanks. --[[User:Hsmom|Hsmom]] 22:16, 10 September 2008 (EDT)
