Removed unsourced material and speculation. See Karajou's talk page for the argument, put forth by another, but why wait?
Robert Jordan (17 October 1948- 16 September 2007), born James Oliver Rigney, Jr., was an American author most famous for his Wheel of Time series which glorified "magic" and evil. He was stricken and killed by an extremely rare blood disorder known as cardiac amyloidosis[1]. The rare nature of his illness, coupled with the fact that his early death prevented him from completing his anti-Christian work, led many to believe that the disease was a direct punishment from God. Interestingly, few have commented on the deceitful nature of his refusal to publish under his given name.
