The "Roosevelt Corollary" was announced by President Teddy Roosevelt in 1904. It declares that the United States may "intervene" in any Latin American country in order to protect the intrests of the United States. In other words, the United States may occupy any country in South America that we see as a problem. For example, the communists in Cuba and Venezuela could be seen as a problem, giving the United Statesa reason to occupy either country.
