Broadbent was educated at the University of Cambridge, and became a director of the  Applied Psychology Research Unit. He worked there untill retiring. Broadbent worked with other Psychologists and Cognitive Scientists, such as Dianne Berry, and expanded on the works of [[Frederick Bartlett]]
