The group declared a "permanent ceasefire" on March 22 2006; however, there have been several illegal acts on the part of ETA since then which the Spanish government consider to be in violation of the ceasfire.

Since then there have been several illegal acts by ETA such as the bombing of [[Madrid]] [[Barajas]] international airport in which two people died.  Notwithstanding this ETA claims its ceasefire is still in force - an opinion which is rejected by the Spanish government.
