'''Hythe''' (Derivation: OE ''landing place'' or ''harbour'') is a seaside resort town on the [[Kent]] coast of [[England]] about 12km (8 miles) south-west of [[Folkstone]]. It was one of the original [[Cinque Ports]] with [[Dover]], [[Hastings]], [[Romney]] and [[Sandwich]]) although the now defunct port is separated from the town by the Royal Military Canal which was built as an anti-invasion measure against [[Napoleon]].

Hythe is at one end of the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway, the smallest public railway in the world.
