1) I've never heard of anything called "High Dutch". High German, yes, but... All sources I've read seem to say it diverged from modern Dutch, which makes sense to me since Middle Dutch was spoken until c. 1500, 150-200 years before the East-India Company settled in South Africa.
2) I'd like to mention something about the Kollewijn spelling system; namely that it was adopted in 1925 when Afrikaans replaced Dutch in S.A. as an official language. (The point being that it lends to quite a few of the orthographic differences we see in the two languages.)
I just wanted to check and make sure no one had any objections to these changes, or if they have any sources to the contrary. Otherwise I would have simply done the changing myself! [[User:JParker|JParker]] 15:28, 28 January 2009 (EST)
