I appreciate the kind words. I know I don't represent the preferred point of view on CP, but I believe in the importance of understanding the various sides of issues even when you're firmly behind just one of them. If both the conservative and non-conservative sides of an issue have their supporting arguments presented in a fair, reasoned manner and the conservative position is still preferred, then people can have the satisfaction of knowing that it was based on the merits of the argument, and not just because they've only been given one side of the issue to consider.
Hopefully my contributions here will encourage more people to engage those with different opinions instead of dismissing them. Debating issues respectfully with others is not the "someone must win and someone must lose" battle some people regard it as - it can also just be a way for active, curious minds to get some exercise, and maybe learn something new from others in the process.
I've admired how you put a lot of thought and research into your positions, and respect your work here greatly. You're definitely the kind of person who should be considered for promotion to sysop the next time that comes up. --[[User:DinsdaleP|DinsdaleP]] 15:50, 8 February 2009 (EST)
