The '''Pittsburgh Steelers''' are a [[National Football League]] franchise team based in [[Pittsburgh]], [[Pennsylvania]]. They are part of the [[American Football Conference]] (AFC) and play in the AFC North Division.
The Steelers are tied with the [[San Francisco 49ers]] and the [[Dallas Cowboys]] for the distinction of having won the most [[Super Bowl]]s, five times, most recently in the 2005-06 season. The Steelers' path to the 2006 Super Bowl was notable in that the Steelers were the lowest seed in the AFC playoffs that year, and thus had to win three games on the road just to get to the Super Bowl.
The Steelers won the [[Super Bowl XLIII]] on February 1, 2009. They have now six titles (most Super Bowl wins). Santonio Holmes was considered the MVP (Most Valuable Player).
The owner of the Steelers Dan Rooney has been nominated as US ambassador to [[Ireland]].<ref>[http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29738176/ Steelers' Rooney nominated as Ireland ambassador]</ref>
