Waterboarding is definitely torture, and isn't justified or even particularly useful in any situation.  The threat of torture is normally enough to scare people who are ''willing'' to tell the truth into doing so.  If someone thinks that they can withstand torture, they probably can.  They might lie to make it stop, but you're not getting any answers out of them, and all you're going to do is cause illegal harm for no purpose. Waterboarding is definitely torture, and isn't justified or even particularly useful in most situations.  "Ticking bomb" scenarios like the kind you see on TV don't often happen in real life, and even on the rare occasions when they do, a terrorist who is willing to plant a bomb and blow up people on the street is also going to be able to be determined enough to do wrong that he can withstand torture. :Wait a minute - 'we need to torture muslims if they bomb us' - you mean you wouldn't torture others who bomb you?  Are you suggesting that Followers of Islam are in some way more deserving of torture?  Other than that, if you advocate the torture of prisoners (be they Prisoners of War in the technical sense or not) then surely you abandon any right to be appalled if other nations/organisations adopt the same tactics with captured Americans..?
