Waterboarding is definitely torture, and isn't justified or even particularly useful in any situation. The threat of torture is normally enough to scare people who are ''willing'' to tell the truth into doing so. If someone thinks that they can withstand torture, they probably can. They might lie to make it stop, but you're not getting any answers out of them, and all you're going to do is cause illegal harm for no purpose. Are you suggesting that Followers of Islam are in some way more deserving of torture? Other than that, if you advocate the torture of prisoners (be they Prisoners of War in the technical sense or not) then surely you abandon any right to be appalled if other nations/organisations adopt the same tactics with captured Americans..?
