/* "Not a democracy" */ Drop the emotional appeal and clarify your terms, please
:Most of the time when I'm discussing our American government with someone, I always find myself having to correct them when they refer to the U.S. as a "democracy." I cannot stand it, either. It is certainly one of the most prevalent falsities repeated about our government, and it disgusts me. The sad part is, even intelligent people will mistakenly refer to America as a democracy. It goes to show the great lengths progressives have gone to infiltrate our education system and, quite literally, fundamentally transform the definition of our government system. It's sad, really... ::Please clarify your "not a democracy" remarks. It looks like you are saying that the world's most democratic country is non-democratic. That sounds like the lead-in to some Marxist talking points. Is that what you meant?
::Or were you possibly referring to the distinction between direct democracy and representative democracy? --Ed Poor Talk 13:32, 31 August 2011 (EDT)
