'''John Curtin''' was a Prime Minister of [[Australia]] during the 1950s to 1960s. He was a staunch conservative and very popular in his home state of Queensland. He was Prime Minister from 1950 to 1966.

'''John Curtin''' (8 January 1885 – 5 July 1945) was a Prime Minister of [[Australia]] from 1941 to 1945.

 

Despite his political views, he was responsible for introducing many innovations into Australia such as connecting the first electrical grid into South Australia, voting rights for women and the construction of a railroad line from Adelaide to Brisbane.

 

He received a knighthood from the Queen in 1966 upon his retirement from politics. He died in 1968 and is buried with his wife, Lady Flora Curtin at St Andrews Cathedral in the town of his birth, Caboulture, QLD.
