Insolently if homophobia is regarded a mental illness due to issues it causes in working with homosexuals then so is homosexuality due to issues it causes in working with homophobes.  This is of course to say nothing of the many issues homosexuality creates in dealing with the various forms of human sexual dimorphism.

It is also worth noting that homosexuality does indeed impair the normal function of the person in terms of reproduction.  Furthermore to deny that reproduction is a normal & essential function of a human is to deny that humans are living beings.
