'''East Asia''' is a term used to describe the countries [[China]] (the [[People's Republic of China]] and the [[Republic of China]] ([[Taiwan]])), [[Korea]] ([[North Korea|North]] and [[South Korea|South]]) and [[Japan]]. Eastern [[Siberia]] and [[Mongolia]] are sometimes also considered to be part of East Asia.

The old-fashioned terms 'Far East' and 'The Orient' are sometimes also used to describe this region, though disapproved of by some because it takes a European standpoint.
