Talk:Ageism
"Ageism" was liberal claptrap when it was invented in 1969, and it's liberal claptrap now. It was passed over in favour of "sexism". There is no historical continuum from 1969 until now on the subject of "ageism". I see no need to pretend there is. RobSIch bin ein breakfast taco 16:36, October 19, 2022 (EDT)
After passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, by 1969 the charge of "racism" got old and tired real fast. So liberals needed a new "ism" and victim group to keep organized protesters in line. "Ageism" was first tried, but failed (largely due to the existence of Social Security with seniors living on the younger generations dime, they could hardly claim mistreatment). "Sexism" succeeded in allowing the feminists to hijack the Civil Rights movement (they burnt their bras rather than draft cards). "Ageism" was never heard of again until Wikipedia editors picked it up as if it was some sort of long standing liberal movement or cause, in conjunction with other trite garbage like "ableism" or "transphobia" ("transphobia", for example, there is nothing "irrational" about a fear of people with obvious medically certifiable mental and psychiatric disturbances).
