I consider it fortunate that old Ethelbald decided to get away from Ethel-something for his next son. Ethelthryth the Great or Ethelhead the Great, don't have quite the noble ring of Alfred the Great. What was it with Ethelwulf? Even his daughter was an ethel - Ethelfleda.

Sorry. I woz wrong. Alfred's daughter was Ethelfleda. Ethelwulf's daughter was Ethelswith. I was half right. And the premise still stands. AlanE 15:56, 7 October 2008 (EDT)
