Talk:Green energy
change explanation and question
Changed the wording of the description of nuclear energy because referring to nuclear physics as a constant may be confusing to some readers since some constants accepted by nuclear physicists are called into question by creationist theory. Why not just word it as I have to keep things clear? Also, It may, or may not, be appropriate to mention wind turbine syndrome here. Many mainstream media outlets treat this as a sham, but there are some who take this newly characterized seriously. Basically it is a nervous condition brought on by proximity to wind turbines. Information on it, pro and con is easily available on the internet, but i haven't really searched through it to find the most appropriate sources. Just wanted to mention it here in case anyone ever has an interest in adding it.
- One advantage of nuclear energy is that once you purify the fuel it weighs less and takes up less space that an equilvalent amount of coal or oil. Once you load the fuel rods into the nuclear reactor, they "burn" a long time, so you are not constantly feeding more fuel into the plant (as is the case with coal, gas or oil.) So a nuclear plant can operate for months without taking it off-line for refueling and maintenance. This means that the per unit variable cost of nuclear power is much less than the other fuels. (However, nuclear has higher security costs and waste disposal costs than do the other types of power.) Wschact 00:10, 22 November 2012 (EST)
