Categories or lists

Wouldn't this better be served by categories? HelpJazz 19:23, 17 September 2008 (EDT)

Possibly, but there are not that many independent articles to warrant new categories. Also a lot of them are redirects to collective articles or redirects for multiple names to the same entry. You could also categorize the redirects, but somewhere it was written that was discouraged on this wiki; instead it was said to create such list-articles if necessary. Then there was this already existing list-article, I ordered the content and proposed a move to avoid LotR-centrism and encompass the whole topic, and it looks imho a lot better than it started out. ~ Tolkiendil 07:14, 18 September 2008 (EDT)

Moves and Redirects

  • This article should rather be named "List of Middle-earth articles" to avoid LotR-centrism.
  • Move Tolkien's languages to Tolkien's languages and scripts.
  • The article Fatty Bolger should be moved to his proper name Fredegar Bolger.
  • There are a lot of redirects with a wrong spelling of Middle-earth. Those could probably be deleted, as people would usually go for the term without the addition in parentheses anyway. And if not it could encourage to find and use the proper spelling. The misspellings "Middle Earth" and "Middle-Earth" would probably stay in case someone searched for it, but the misspellings in the parentheses are not needed. Anyway, here is a list in case someone who is allowed decided to do this (Not linking them is intentional, as they should not be used.): "Middle Earth", "Middle-Earth", "Aragorn II (Middle Earth)", "Dwarves (Middle Earth)", "Elf (Middle Earth)", "Éowyn (Middle Earth)", "The One Ring (Middle Earth)", "Saruman (Middle Earth)", "Sauron (Middle Earth)", "Sting (Middle Earth)". ~ Tolkiendil 10:18, 3 October 2008 (EDT)
