modular math is only on the integers, so it's clear that integers are the only possible odd numbers. -Foxtrot 15:49, 17 October 2008 (EDT)
The concept of mod is often - and easily - extended to other classes of numbers, so it's not clear that only integers are meant. IMO, the article should omit any reference to modular math in the definition. I'd prefer something like:
An odd number is an integer which isn't a multiple of two.
