I don't think Rand Paul counts as a "phony anti-establishmentarian". Just because his consistent, principled record sometimes differs with Trump on issues like border security, foreign policy, and certain federal spending does not dispute his strong anti-establishment record. For the two sources provided, one was about his vote against the emergency declaration over the border. While he did vote with some RINOs on that, his record is far from theirs'. It's kind of similar to Barry Goldwater's vote against the 1964 Civil Rights Act; Goldwater adamantly supported civil rights, just not a supporter of the bill's approach. As for the second source, it's a FiveThirtyEight Trump score page. [1] The individual votes listed actually affirms Paul's anti-establishment record because the times he broke with Trump were ones where he took more of an anti-establishment stance. Regarding foreign policy, his vote on February 13, 2020 to remove Trump's war powers can arguably be seen by some as the non-interventionist, principled thing to do despite the killings being justified. Trump's success in killing the terrorist leaders was something praised more by the neocons like Adam Kinzinger (if I recall correctly) than the anti-establishment conservatives. âLTMay D.C., his mother, and I.S. be all well!
