Talk:Wernher von Braun
Actually, the V-2s did not bomb England with "devastating affect;" impacting at high super sonic velocity, they buried themselves deep underground and their limited TNT payload caused minimal destruction on surface structures and loss of human life. The V-2s tended to destroy the building they hit and kill people in it, but damage to surrounding structures was limited to broken windows from the wave concussion, and not even fire damage. The war ended before the Germans could perfect getting the V-2 to detonate on impact. The "devastating affect" was a sonic boom at ground level, which was absolutely psychologically terrifying (I heard it from a Canadian vet who experienced it in London in 1944). To my knowledge, there hasn't been many sonic booms at ground level at urban or populated areas anywhere on the planet ever since. RobSDe Plorabus Unum 15:06, 18 April 2020 (EDT)
