German Emperor vs. Emperor of Germany

The second German empire was a very federal state, and the title of the head of state hotly debated. The princes agreed on "German emperor" instead of "Emperor of Germany", mainly to show that the King of Prussia was only primus inter pares (it seems that especially Kaiser Wilhelm II was very irked by this...) --AugustO (talk) 09:57, 27 May 2016 (EDT)

The first American president, George Washington, initially favored that the title of his office should be "His high mightiness, the President of the United States and Protector of Their Liberties." and said that cricket clubs have presidents.[1] Conservative (talk) 10:18, 27 May 2016 (EDT)
