Almost Unarmed against Germany (In 1940)

Not really true as Britain had one of the largest navies in the world at that time, and a formidable airforce. I'll try and reword it to show it was the army that was pitifully inadequate, rather than the armed services as a whole--TruthOfChrist 14:28, 16 October 2008 (EDT)

You are right there. The Navy was superior to anything the Germans could field, and the Air Force at least its equal. Even the Army was giving as good as it got in Africa. Levitican 18:31, 22 December 2009 (EST)

Churchill's appointment as Prime Minister

I fixed an error which said that the British Public voted Chamberlain out. They didn't. Chamberlain resigned, and Churchill as appointed without a vote (though of course Parliament supported him, and the public almost certainly would have done had there been a vote). right--good edit. RJJensen 19:03, 22 December 2009 (EST)

Greatest Briton

This article could point out that in 2002, there was a poll to find the Greatest Briton, and Churchill came top. Carltonio (talk) 02:37, 23 February 2020 (EST)

I wouldn't give too much credit to that poll, if it's the one I think you mean, it also says Michael Crawford is the Greatest Living Briton, which is doubtful.--Bunsbury (talk) 01:26, 21 July 2020 (EDT)
